Martin Truex Jr. Calls NASCAR Situation ‘A Joke’ after Tire Failures at Texas
Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series AutoTrader 500 race won by Tyler Reddick at Texas Motor Speedway seemed to make some headlines for all the wrong reasons.
One of the main storylines throughout the race was tire failures. In a race that saw 16 cautions, half of them were caused by tires coming apart.
Three drivers had their problems while leading the race, including Martin Truex Jr.
With 66 laps to go Sunday, Truex found himself in command of the race, but when he went into turn 3, a right rear tire let go which put him in the outside wall and ended his day prematurely.
Upon getting released from his mandatory infield care center trip, Truex was asked about the situation and what he thought about it all. He replied, “I don’t even know what to say, between crappy parts, tires exploding and all the bullshit we’re dealing with, it’s a joke."
Truex was then asked, OK, (if you're NASCAR) then what do you do to fix the problem.
"There's a lot of people that make a lot of money to do this and get this stuff right," Truex said. "That's all I'm going to say about it."

If your thinking that maybe NASCAR will look into someone else for tires, keep dreaming. GY pays them a fat check so they are allowed to gouge the teams each week.
