A Martinez woman claims she was scammed out of $145,000 by a man she met on a millionaire dating website.

The 50-year-old woman called the Columbia County Sheriff's Office Friday to report the scam.

The woman told deputies she started talking to a man she met on MillionaireMatch.com in March and believed the relationship was going to become serious, according to an incident report.

She said the man encouraged her to invest into crypto currency through CryptoTCF.com and told her he would teach her how to make a profit on the investment, according to the report. The woman told deputies she took out several personal loans and invested approximately $145,000 into crypto currency through the website.

When she received a notice that she was able to withdraw the amount she made in profit, it required her to first make a payment that would cover the tax amount, according to the report. She became suspicious and began researching the website, discovering the website was not legitimate.

The woman told deputies she filed a report with the FBI but is still talking to the man, according to the report.
