LaSALLE -- Mr. and Mrs. Floyd T. Martin III of LaSalle are observing their golden wedding anniversary today.  A family dinner is taking place at Big Bear Lodge, Flat Rock. The couple also took a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean in the winter.

Mr. Martin and Sally A. Massingill were married June 15, 1972, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Monroe.

The couple's son is Floyd W. (Justin) Martin of Temperance. Their daughter, Clara Martin, is deceased. They also have four grandchildren.

Mr. Martin worked for Magnum Industries, as a truck driver for Salter's, as a welder at Detroit Stoker, Union Camp and Smith Brothers Farms.

He enjoys fishing, gardening and dog-sitting.

Mrs. Martin was a chaplain at St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio, and still works there part-time. She also had worked for Sears & Roebuck and has been a minister at Stewart Road Church of God, where she is involved in various ministries.

She enjoys gardening, word games and travelling.

The Martins are graduates of Mason High School, Erie, and are members of Stewart Road Church of God.

"Floyd and Sally met when they were in the ninth-grade and rode the same bus to school," the family said. "The rest of the story is still being written."
