Captain America: New World Order spoilers follow.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has confirmed a major twist for Harrison Ford in Captain America: New World Order.

Indiana Jones star Ford joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe to take over the role of the Avengers' nemesis Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, a US army general bent on bringing superheroes under control of the government. William Hurt had played the role in the MCU before his death in 2022.

While Ross has held the rank of a general in his previous appearances, Feige has now confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Thunderbolt has a new rank: President.

"With Harrison, you think about Air Force One, and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger. There's a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson," Feige confirmed.

"They have a history together, but in this film, we'll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible."

Feige revealed that Ford is "embracing" his new position in the MCU with his "tireless" work effort, adding that he's long wanted to work with the acting legend.

"This has been a dream for years, ever since Jon Favreau cast Harrison Ford in Cowboys and Aliens," he revealed.

"I was always very jealous of that, so to have him finally in the MCU is just incredible. It's like, I can cross that off the wishlist."

Anthony Mackie officially takes control of Captain America's shield in New World Order, which will also see Tim Blake Nelson returning as the Leader from 2008's Incredible Hulk movie.

Ford is also expected to return as President Ross in the Thunderbolts movie, which brings together a group of antiheroes on a mission to redeem themselves.

Captain America: New World Order has been officially confirmed. Meanwhile, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is streaming exclusively on Disney+.
