We never thought the Walt Disney Company would reverse their decision to fire Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn after some old inappropriate tweets were recirculated online, despite his many apologies.

But as we learned yesterday, the studio rehired him with the decision actually being made months ago, and there was much rejoicing, including from Gunn's fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe directors.

Peyton Reed, director of both Ant-Man movies, simply shared a photo of the director and said "Welcome back, James."

Doctor Strange's Scott Derrickson shared an article regarding the big decision and tweeted: "G L O R Y H A L L E L U J A".

But it's Thor: Rangarok director and wonderful weirdo Taika Waititi who had the best reaction, writing: "What the hell?? I thought I was going to do it!!"

Taika has been linked to directing Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 after Gunn was fired by Disney, seeing as how Ragnarok was also pretty spacey. He has said he's definitely up for helming another Marvel movie, but he won't do that one.

Gunn himself issued a statement after the news broke, in which he said: "I deeply appreciate Disney’s decision and I am excited to continue making films that investigate the ties of love that bind us all.

"I have been and continue to be incredibly humbled by your love and support."

We're guessing that Dave Bautista is also pretty happy with the decision.
