In 'Spider-Man: Far From Home,' audiences were first introduced to the multiverse. Quentin Beck, Spider-Man's adversary of the film, was actually from another dimension and found himself in this particular timeline, the one we're currently familiar with. It was then revealed to the MCU that there is, in fact, an entire multiverse with thousands of different versions of the current Earth. As of now, we've only just scraped the surface of the multiverse. Kevin Feige has already said that there is much more to come that will make a massive impact on the MCU.

We've Come A Long Way Since 2008

The MCU officially kicked off in 2008 with 'Iron Man.' And it's been quite a ride since then.

"When we first started the MCU, it was all about Tony Stark," said Marvel President Kevin Feige. "Introduce the world to Tony Stark and that Iron Man armor. Then [we] went on to teach people what Asgardians were and learn about super soldiers then bring them together in Avengers. I've always loved space movies, and I've always loved big intergalactic tales, which is why we did Guardians, and the audience came with us so we could do a movie like Endgame."

The Multiverse Is The Next Step In The MCU's Evolution

With the introduction of the multiverse, not only will that bring more MCU films and more development of already familiar characters, but we can surmise that all these upcoming films are going to build up to a significant battle for the universe in a similar vein to 'Endgame.'

"The MCU is all interconnected, but we really focus on one movie at a time," Feige said. "We're going to make the best Black Widow movie we can possibly make, the best Eternals movie we can make, the best Shang-Chi, the best Doctor Strange, Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Panther…and keep evolving their stories… Then, yes, it is always fun to see them come together in a master plan. Which is, I promise you well-underway."

Two Upcoming Projects Will Be Key

Regarding the development of the multiverse, two upcoming projects will be critical. The first will be 'WandaVision,' a miniseries starring the Scarlet Witch that is to be released on Disney+ in early 2021. The second will be the movie 'Dr. Strange In the Multiverse of Madness,' which is also scheduled for release sometime in 2021. The second 'Dr. Strange' film will be set after the events of 'WandaVision,' and will involve a team-up between Dr. Strange and the Scarlet Witch.

Even Loki Is Getting His Own Series

Loki, Thor's brother, the sometimes villain and sometimes occasional ally, is getting his own series on Disney +. We don't know when it will be released, but we can guess that it will probably be around the same time as WandaVision and 'The Multiverse of Madness.' Loki could potentially have a significant impact on the development of the multiverse since he's dead in the current MCU timeline. But that certainly doesn't mean that the Trickster God is still alive in some other dimension.
