Marvel's Paul Rudd and Kathryn Hahn clash in new Apple TV+ series

The Shrink Next Door has released its first trailer ahead of its release on Apple TV+ later on this year.

Marvel's Paul Rudd stars alongside Saturday Night Live legend Will Ferrell in the dark comedy – the limited series is set to have eight episodes.

Rudd and Ferrell also serve on the project as executive producers, The Shrink Next Door will make its global debut with its first three episodes on November 12.

After the series premiere, new episodes will air weekly and will be available to stream every Friday.

The show is inspired by a series of true events, exploring the bizarre relationship between a psychiatrist and his patients, which becomes controlling and unhealthy.

The Shrink Next Door's new trailer sees psychiatrist to the stars Dr. Isaac 'Ike' Herschkopf (played by Rudd) meeting with his long-term patient Martin 'Marty' Markowitz (played by Ferrell).

Throughout the series, Ike conducts himself in a highly unprofessional manner and manipulates his relationship with Marty, soon becoming involved in his personal life.

At one point, Ike moves into Marty's home in the Hamptons and even persuades Marty to name him the president of his family's business.

In The Shrink Next Door, the doctor-patient relationship is explored in a twisted new way, detailing how a normal part of Marty's life quickly morphs into an exploitative and manipulative dynamic. Money, power and dysfunction are at the centre of the series.

Featuring ing alongside Rudd and Ferrell, Kathryn Hahn stars as 'Phyllis' (Marty's younger sister), while Casey Wilson stars as 'Bonnie' (Dr. Herschkopf's wife).

The Shrink Next Door is being directed by Michael Showalter and Jesse Peretz, while it is based on the script by the multi-award-winning Georgia Pritchett.

The Shrink Next Door makes its global debut on Apple TV+ on November 12.
