Marvin Hall has been fired as Peabody football coach after four seasons and an 11-27 record.

An announcement of the vacant job is posted on the Rapides Parish School Board website. Hall, 59, joins J.T. Dunbar, who stepped down as Marksville coach over the weekend, as area coaches who will not return to their teams in 2022.

Despite having seniors Greg Knox and Arthur Lavalais, the Warhorses slumped to a 0-10 record after going 3-4 in 2020 and having hopes of making the playoffs for the third straight year. Lavalais was the top running back in Louisiana with 2,117 yards and 23 touchdowns on 263 carries.

Hall’s best season came in 2019, when he led Peabody to a 7-4 record, a home playoff game and a six-game improvement from his first season. He was named as the All-Cenla Coach of the Year as the Warhorses snapped a two-year playoff drought.

“It’s been an uphill battle,” Hall said Wednesday. “I’m thankful for the kids that’s participated in the program. Hopefully, they’ve learned how to be better young men and that 20 years from now, they’ll be successful husbands, fathers and community members. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s about. It’s about changing young men’s lives.”

Hall coached at Tioga for 11 seasons and went 8-23 as the head coach from 2002-04. He was also an assistant at Louisiana Christian University (formerly Louisiana College) from 2005-11 under Dennis Dunn.
