Maryland family wins 5th big scratch-off lottery prize since 2017, totaling $350,000

When it comes to winning the lottery, good luck seems to be a family trait, at least for one family in Maryland.

Since 2017, a family from Glen Burnie, Maryland has won five big prizes on scratch-offs, including the most recent $100,000 prize this week on the Gold X50 scratch-off game, Maryland Lottery officials announced Monday.

The mother, father and son, who lottery officials did not name, have purchased all of their winning tickets from Doc’s F&B Liquors in Glen Burnie. The mother won $100,000 in 2019 and $50,000 on two occasions − once in 2017 and again in January 2023.

More: A father bought his son a lottery ticket as a graduation gift. They won $50,000.

As a retailer, Doc's F&B Liquors earns a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery, according to a release.

The son won $50,000 earlier in May, and now, it was the father's turn to win the $100,000. Accompanied by his son, he claimed his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters.

“It’s pretty amazing,” the son told lottery officials. “And, all of the tickets were purchased from the same store.”

The father, 84, said he plans to gift some of the prize funds to his grandchildren, then will buy a new car and make some home improvements.
