Maryland governor on crime: 'We cannot defund the police'

Criticizing the "defund the police" movement, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced his intention to provide $150 million in aid to law enforcement agencies and crime victim protection services. The Republican governor said the money, much of which will be in his next budget, will help recruit and retain officers, increase diversity, improve training and expand community policing. Hogan singled out Baltimore City as a prime example of why more money, not less, should be invested in law enforcement efforts. The city is on pace to surpass 300 homicides again this year, and the police department is woefully understaffed.
