Maryland man killed in shooting outside Cookeville business

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Maryland man was killed Monday following an overnight shooting in the parking lot of a Cookeville business.

The Cookeville Police Department said officers received reports of a shooting at the business on South Jefferson Avenue at approximately 2:37 a.m. When they arrived, police found 36-year-old Christopher Posey dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

As of Tuesday, March 12, investigators said they believe that all of the people involved in the shooting have been located. However, their identities are currently not being released in order to “maintain the integrity of the investigation,” officials reported.

Detectives suspect that the shooting was an isolated incident and said there is no reason to believe the public is in any danger. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
