Maryland men’s basketball receives commitment from four-star guard Paul Lewis, first in Class of 2022

The Maryland men’s basketball team received a verbal commitment Sunday from four-star point guard Paul Lewis, a junior at Bishop O’Connell in Arlington, Virginia. It’s the Terps' first commit from the Class of 2022.

Bishop O’Connell, which competes in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, is the alma mater of former Terps standout Melo Trimble. Lewis was named second team All-WCAC as a sophomore.

“I’m proud to announce that I’ll be committing to the University of Maryland. Go Terps!” Lewis said in a video posted on Twitter.

Lewis, 6 feet 3 and 165 pounds, is the ninth-ranked player in Virginia and 19th-ranked point guard in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Maryland also has a trio of four-star commits from the Class of 2021 in power forward Julian Reese (St. Frances), shooting guard Ike Cornish and small forward Ike Cornish.
