Maryland State Police investigating fatal crash in St. Mary’s County

ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Maryland State Police was investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that happened on Saturday afternoon.

Police said that just before 4:00 p.m., officers responded to the area of Mechanicsville Road and Asher Road for a two-vehicle crash.

Officers said that a motorcycle was on Mechanicsville Road when it hit a delivery van that was attempting to turn into a residential driveway.

67-year-old man arrested for residential burglary in Montgomery County

MSP said that 63-year-old Thomas Christiani of Mechanicsville, Md., the driver and only occupant of the motorcycle, died there.

Police did not believe impaired driving was a factor in this crash, but investigators were still working to determine what caused the crash.

Officials said that no other injuries were reported.

Mechanicsville Road was closed for more than 4 hours after the crash.
