Maryland weather: Sunny skies in the forecast through at least Monday

It’s going to be a pocketful of sunshine in the Baltimore area as the forecast calls for sunny skies and high temperatures in the 80s until at least Monday.

Clouds gradually cleared Tuesday morning after a few days of showers that included a flash flood warning Monday in Baltimore County. There’s a slight chance of showers Tuesday morning.

Monday’s storms brought .24 inches of total rainfall, while Sunday saw 1.12 inches and traces of rain were recorded Saturday for the area.

In addition to Baltimore City, parts of Anne Arundel, Carroll, Howard, Montgomery, Baltimore, Harford and Prince George’s counties were under a flood watch through Monday evening.

Flash flooding was expected in Owings Mills, Reisterstown and Glyndon and between 2 and 3 inches of rainfall dropped in the area. Reisterstown was among the hardest hit, according to NWS.

Baltimore County Emergency Management documented downed trees and multiple water related road closures in Reisterstown including two to three feet of standing water in the roadway. Towson also saw road closures because of high waters.

However, it’s sunny skies through at least Monday as a cold front will push offshore Monday, the NWS said.

“As the cold front departs this morning, some lingering showers and a few thunderstorms are observed along the Chesapeake Bay pushing eastwards towards the Delmarva Peninsula,” NWS said.

High temperatures will be in the 80s until Monday and low temperatures are expected to be in the 50s and 60s.

“While today’s temperatures will only be a few degrees cooler than yesterday, it will feel noticeably less humid as dew points drop into the 50s today,” NWS said.
