Maryland weather: Temperatures to rise ahead of rainy start to next week in Baltimore

Partly sunny skies on Thursday in the Baltimore area are expected to cloud up as the weekend approaches, with rain in the forecast on Saturday.

The weekend’s higher-than-average temperatures are expected to rise from a high of 55 degrees on Thursday to 60 degrees on Friday, reaching 65 degrees as a chance of showers starts on Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The average high temperature for Feb. 8 through 10 at BWI Marshall Airport is 45 degrees, though it peaked at 72 degrees on Feb. 8, 2017. Saturday’s temperatures will be close to that day’s record high for the area, which was 66 degrees on Feb. 10 last year. The highest temperature recorded at BWI in February was 83 degrees on Feb. 25, 1930.

Any Saturday showers are expected to cease that night but return early Monday, when rain is likely to continue throughout most of the day.

Anne Arundel County is still under a coastal flood advisory until 10 p.m. Thursday, warning that high tides could cause minor flooding in Annapolis.
