Marylanders burn socks in decades-old tradition

One of Maryland's more unusual traditions was honored Saturday in full force as people burned their socks in Annapolis. The tradition dates back to the 1970s, and, this year, even the governor joined in. The idea is to celebrate the spring equinox and the beginning of the boating season by burning those nasty winter socks. The event also featured live music and all-you-can-eat oysters.
