Maserati announced today a new Trofeo trim level for its Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans, packing Ferrari twin-turbo V-8 power and a top speed north of 200 mph. Maserati's aging four-doors have finally received the engine they always deserved.

The Ghibli Trofeo and Quattroporte Trofeo both get the same Ferrari-built 580-horsepower 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8 found in the company's Levante Trofeo SUV. This is the first time Maserati has fitted a V-8 to the Ghibli, and it's the most powerful engine fitted to either car so far. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Torque is rated at 730 lb-ft, and 0-62 comes in at 4.3 seconds for the Ghibli, and 4.5 seconds for the bigger Quattroporte. Top speed for both cars is 202 mph, making them some of the quickest four-doors on Earth.

The Trofeo models sport a handful of stylistic touches to make them stand out among your average Ghibli or Quattroporte, including a piano black grille with twin vertical bars, carbon fiber front air ducts, red-trimmed side air vents, and 21-inch aluminum wheels. Inside, you'll find a 10.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment and "full-grain Pieno Fiore natural leather." There's also things like launch control, a sporty "Corsa" mode, and an active driving assistance system.

Maserati has yet to release pricing or delivery dates for its new V-8-powered sedans, but we should expect them to arrive sometime next year.
