The Masked Singer spinoff The Masked Dancer to premiere on December 27

The Masked Singer spin-off The Masked Dancer has its premiere date.

The series will premiere on Fox in the US on Sunday, December 27 at 8pm ET before debuting in its regular time slot the following Wednesday at 8pm ET.

The show is based on a popular segment from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and counts Ellen herself among its executive producers.

On the judging panel are Ken Jeong, Paula Abdul, Brian Austin Green and Ashley Tisdale, while comedian Craig Robinson will serve as host.

Like The Masked Singer, the show will feature celebrities in outlandish costumes with the audience and judges having to guess their identities.

The costumed celebrities will be joined on stage by masked partners and back-up dancers as they perform a series of dances together with genres spanning from hip-hop to salsa, jazz to tap dancing and more.

Fox has teased some impressive stats for the first season's contestants.

Apparently, they’ve collectively sold more than 38 million albums worldwide, amassed 20 Emmy Award wins, 20 Grammy Award nominations, 10 World Dancing titles, five New York Times Best-Selling Author titles, four Olympic gold medals and three Broadway show appearances.

And we already know that The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik will be a guest judge, after she shared the unfortunate wardrobe malfunction she suffered on set.

The Masked Dancer premieres Sunday, December 27 at 8pm ET on Fox. The Masked Singer US continues tonight (November 11) at 8pm on Fox. The show's UK equivalent airs on ITV.
