The Masked Singer US unmasks Polar Bear as rap legend

Polar Bear was revealed on The Masked Singer last night when judge Nicole Scherzinger correctly guessed their identity.
The masked contestant, who turned out to be rap legend Grandmaster Flash, tried hard not to lose their head as the judges made their guesses, with Ken Jeong picking Diddy, Robin Thicke going with LL Cool J and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg guessing Flava Flav.
The hip-hop artist performed hit Blondie song 'Rapture' on the show, a single he told Variety was written about himself.

"I remember Fab Five Freddy bringing [Blondie's Debbie Harry] to one of my shows. This is way back in the day before I became famous. And she wrote this song of what she saw when I was on the turntables at one of my amateur shows," he said.
On his decision to join the show, Flash said he took part in The Masked Singer as it can "take your mind off" some of the negative headlines in the media.
“I travel a lot and I don't get a chance to watch a whole lot of TV, but my family and close friends watch this show. And I decided to go online and look at some of the episodes and how it all works. I'm like: 'Wow, this is really silly.' Sometimes we as adults, don't know how to turn off being adults," he continued.
Grandmaster Flash was revealed mid-episode, leaving California Roll and Medusa to face off to Billy Joel's 'Uptown Girl'.

In a twist, both contestants moved through to the quarter-finals as California Roll won the face-off and Medusa was saved by the Ding Dong Keep It On bell, protecting their identity for another week.
The judges revealed their guesses for Medusa's identity, with Scherzinger suggesting Lorde, Jeong believing they are Susan Boyle, Thicke going with Kesga, and McCarthy Wahlberg saying it was Halsey.
Grandmaster Flash became the fifth celebrity to be unmasked this season, joining Debbie Gibson as Night Owl, Howie Mandel as Rock Lobster, Sara Evans as Mustang, and Dick Van Dyke as Gnome.
The Masked Singer US season 9 airs on Fox, while The Masked Singer UK airs on ITV1.
