Jul. 24—A Massachusetts man who injured his leg after slipping off a rock and falling backward on Cannon Mountain was assisted down by a rescue team.

Fish and Game was notified around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Mark Chisholm, 54, of Andover, was hiking solo on the Kinsman Ridge Trail in Franconia. He was able to call 911.

Members of Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue team and conservation officers carried Chisholm uphill and across the mountain to a ski trail because of the steepness and condition of terrain, according to a news release.

The team waited for a UTV where Chisholm arrived at the lodge parking lot at 7:30 p.m. He was brought to Littleton Regional Hospital by ambulance.
