Authorities identify young Mansfield man killed in three vehicle crash on I-95 in Sharon

A Mansfield man has died following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Sharon on Thursday night, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Officials identified the person killed in the crash as Jordan McGrath-Edlund, 24, of Mansfield, who was driving a 2013 BMW. McGrath-Edlund was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The crash happened just before 8 p.m. on I-95 southbound near Exit 17, and caused significant traffic delays after MassDOT shut down multiple lanes for the investigation.

Police said the cars involved in the crash were a 2013 BMW driven by McGrath-Edlund, a 2016 Subaru Impreza driven by a 34-year-old Providence man and a 2012 Honda CR-V driven by a 70-year-old Foxboro woman. Police say all three drivers were sent to the hospital for injuries.

A preliminary investigation suggests that the BMW as operating at a high rate of speed and making multiple lane changes before McGrath-Edlund struck the Impreza and the CR-V, causing those cars to roll over. The BMW also rolled into the center median.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
