Massachusetts man killed in crash on I-95 North in Seabrook

SEABROOK — A Massachusetts man died after he crashed into a bridge abutment on Interstate 95 in Seabrook Tuesday night.

New Hampshire State police responded to the crash at 8:11 p.m. after receiving a report that a white van struck a bridge abatement at the Route 107 overpass on I-95 North and was smoking.

When officers arrived, they found the operator was entrapped and unresponsive inside the 2012 Chevrolet Express van. Upon extraction, police said the operator was confirmed to have succumbed to the injuries sustained during the crash.

The man, identified as Eraldo Bezerra, 77, of Hudson, was declared deceased by emergency medical personnel at the scene.

State police said the preliminary investigation showed that the Chevrolet Express van left the roadway on the right side for an unknown reason, traveled approximately 200 feet in the grass, and struck the bridge abutment at the Route 107 overpass. The van came to its final rest in the right breakdown lane, police said.

Two travel lanes of I-95 North, according to police, were shut down for approximately 2 ½ hours to allow for the investigation and to remove the vehicle.
