Massachusetts is the best state in America to have a baby, according to a new study.
WalletHub analysts compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 32 key measures of cost, health care accessibility, and baby-friendliness to compile its 2022′s Best & Worst States to Have a Baby list.
The personal-finance website says it data set ranged from hospital conventional-delivery charges to annual average infant-care costs to pediatricians per capita.
The Bay State edged out Vermont to earn the top ranking. Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island rounded out the top five places to have a baby.
Here’s how Massachusetts rated out, according to WalletHub:
13th – Hospital Cesarean-Delivery Charges
22nd – Hospital Conventional-Delivery Charges
3rd – Infant Mortality Rate
14th – Rate of Low Birth-Weight
18th – Midwives & OB-GYNs per Capita
14th – Pediatricians & Family Medicine Physicians per Capita
22nd – Child-Care Centers per Capita
1st – Parental-Leave Policy Score
Connecticut and Maine also received high rankings.
