Massive advertisements touting West Palm Beach as 'Wall Street South' hit busy New York streets

Massive digital billboards of Palm Beach County beaches, azure waters and a burgeoning skyline graced the busy streets of New York City this week touting the area as “Wall Street South.”

Palm Beach County, and specifically West Palm Beach, have adopted the nickname of the financial capital of the south after a surge in business relocations since the pandemic.

New Class A office towers going up in downtown West Palm Beach, or already completed, such as 360 Rosemary, have lured about 100 firms since 2019 to the county, according to the Business Development Board, which sponsored the billboards.

Palm Beach County's Business Development Board placed three digital billboards at 43rd Rotunda, Times Square Tower, and the iconic I Love NY Board. The billboards advertised "Wall Street South", a nickname given to West Palm Beach.

The BDB has long sought to position the county as a financial hub, such as for hedge funds and investment houses, and that effort has accelerated since the pandemic.

The board notes that the area boasts a residence count of 57 billionaires and 70,000 millionaires.

“Palm Beach County's urban centers, including Palm Beach Gardens, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach, are witnessing construction of offices, including the 270,000-square-foot One Flagler,” the board said in a news release.  “Currently 75%-leased, One Flagler tenants include GTCR, Diameter Capital Partners, and Siris Capital.”
