SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Trenton Massner has been named Summit League Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday (Jan. 17). Massner averaged 21 points, nine rebounds, 4.5 assists, one block and three steals per game while shooting 45% from the field and 75% from the line across two appearances.

Against North Dakota on Thursday (Jan. 13) Massner had a balanced performance, scoring 11 points to go with seven rebounds and tied a season-high with eight assists, blocking two shots and recording three steals in a 73-68 road victory. Two days later in Fargo, Massner tied a career-high for points scored with 31 (14-25 FG), grabbing a team-high 11 rebounds and swiping another three steals. On the season, Massner now holds averages of 16.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals while leading the Leathernecks in blocked shots.

Monday's announcement marks the second time this season that Massner has won Player of the Week honors, and he also was recognized as the Summit League Male Athlete of the Month for December. The last time a Western Illinois men's basketball player won player of the week honors multiple times was the 2018-19 season, when Brandon Gilbeck won it twice, and the 2012-13 season was the last time three Player of the Week awards were given to Leathernecks in a single season.
