Masters of the Air has broken an impressive record for Apple TV+.

The war drama, which is executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, made its debut last month on the streaming service.

Variety now reports that Masters of the Air has scored Apple TV+'s biggest opening weekend ever for a series, drawing in more viewers in its first weekend than any other show in its debut season.

The site also reports that viewership across the streamer went up by 65% around the globe as compared to the previous week, while Apple TV+ also got double-digit growth in over 100 territories.

Masters of the Air focuses on the men of the 100th Bomb Group (aka the Bloody Hundredth), who conduct bombing raids over Nazi Germany during World War II and grapple with extreme conditions.

The series packs an impressive cast, which includes Dune: Part Two's Austin Butler, Doctor Who's Ncuti Gatwa, Saltburn's Barry Keoghan and The Boys in the Boat's Callum Turner.

Also part of the ensemble are Tetris' Anthony Boyle, Vikings: Valhalla's Nikolai Kinski, Criminal Record's Stephen Campbell Moore and Young Sheldon's Isabel May.

In Digital Spy's verdict on Masters of the Air, we said: "Like Band of Brothers before it, the Apple TV+ drama may very well ignite a conversation about Hollywood's happy adoption of a revisionist wartime attitude.

"Still, it can't be said enough: the cast and production value here are second to none, albeit with not enough Barry Keoghan for the Saltburn stans and scarce Ncuti Gatwa too. You just end up wishing they could have all been in something else."

Masters of the Air is streaming now on Apple TV+ with new episodes releasing weekly on Fridays.
