Matanzas High School all clear after another bomb threat

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office found nothing suspicious after responding Thursday morning to a bomb threat at Matanzas High School.

A person first called the school and made an off-campus threat, according to a press release from the Flagler County School District. School officials immediately contacted the sheriff’s office, which began investigating.

The sheriff’s office then received a call from the same number that called the school, the release stated. The school’s security team and the sheriff’s office did a sweep of the high school and found nothing suspicious. The threat was cleared at 11:10 a.m., according to the release.

The sheriff’s office wrote in an email that deputies believe the caller was the same person who made a bomb threat against Matanzas High School on Jan. 25, but the investigation is continuing.

“These prank phone calls are extremely frustrating to our administrators, teachers, staff, parents and students,” the school district release stated. “Even if a threat is deemed 'not credible,' it causes a disruption to our school day, not to mention the mental toll it takes on many. The safety and security of our campuses and everyone on them is so important. We thank our parents, staff and students for their understanding when we deal with fast-changing events such as what happened today.”
