'Matilda the Musical' will be staged at WASHS
The Waynesboro Area Senior High School all-school production of Roald Dahl's “Matilda the Musical” will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, in the WASHS auditorium. In addition, a cast meet-and-greet for children will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Inspired by the book and 1996 film, “Matilda the Musical” is about a young girl with extraordinary abilities but an unfortunate home life, according to Claire Martin, producer. She makes many friends at school, who she inspires to rebel against their evil headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. Matilda teaches us that sometimes it's OK to be a "little bit naughty" to make things right in this world.

The production features a cast of 24, plus seven gymnasts and seven color guard members as featured performers. Stage crew is comprised of 10 students and the pit orchestra includes two students.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students/children. Children under 12 will be admitted for free on Saturday night with the purchase of adult tickets.
The meet-and-greet for children on Saturday will include character-themed games, a slice of Miss Trunchbull's chocolatey cake and Lavender's newt lemonade. The cost is $5.
