D.J. SHORT: With his awesome defense at third base, Matt Chapman is one of those players, he's more valuable in real life than fantasy leagues. But be careful about overlooking him coming off a down 2020 season. Yes, Chapman hit just .232 with a .276 on-base percentage over 37 games last season, but keep in mind that he was slowed due to a hip injury which eventually resulted in surgery.

Chapman is back to full health this spring and has looked spry at third base. A good sign going into this season. Chapman's results last year were uncharacteristic in many ways as his strikeout rate soared to 35.5%, while his walk rate sat at a lowly 5.3%. This came after he made major strides with his approach in 2018 and 2019. The good news is that he still hit the ball extremely hard.

In fact, he posted his best numbers ever, in terms of [INAUDIBLE] percentage, hard-hit percentage, and average exit velocity. Chapman will never be a batting average stud, but a 40 Homers season isn't out of the question, and neither is a possible AL MVP award.
