Matt Hancock addresses rumours he kept Newcastle shirt ‘auctioned off for NHS’
Matt Hancock has addressed rumours that he kept a signed Newcastle shirt he auctioned for an NHS fundraiser back in 2020.
The former health secretary was pictured wearing the shirt in a TikTok clip posted ahead of the Sunday’s (26 February) Carabao Cup final.
Social media users spotted that it was the same shirt he donated for Chris Evans’ appeal.
His spokesperson told The Independent that the person who bought the shirt gifted it back to Mr Hancock.
In a response video, Mr Hancock said he was “really grateful” to still have his “beloved signed shirt.”
