Matters of Graves Importance: Apollofest, plenty of music acts this week

Lots of “get out of the house and do something” events happening in Chillicothe this weekend!

Today, at 4 p.m., head to Old Capitol Brewing for Apollofest 2023. OCB will be pouring their collab beer with Jesse Mitten from Apollo Records. Naughty Lobstah will be on the street from 4 to 8 p.m. and Jesse will be spinning records from 7 to 10 p.m. If reggae is your music preference Emotional Jammage will be playing at The Crosskeys Tavern at 7 p.m. You can find Name That Tune at Dickey's Barbecue at 6 p.m. with DJ Roush.

Mulgee Run is taking over The Pour House stage on Friday at 7:30 pm. Call 740-771-4770 to reserve your table for an evening of country, rock, and bluegrass. Old Capitol Brewing welcomes back Brian Weiskittle to their taproom and, if you feel like singing a tune, check out karaoke with DJ Roush at Wagner’s.

Joseph, Barnes, Barnes, and Thacker will be hitting the Steiner’s Speakeasy stage at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Don’t miss this master class of music from a quartet of local legends. Sugarloaf Shakedown plays the ‘Keys from 9 p.m. to midnight. Dale Blankenship is making his debut on The Pour House Stage at 7:30 p.m. Dale features acoustic country, bluegrass, and original songs. Out at Wagner’s Roadhouse you will find Ricky Lee playing from 8 p.m. to midnight. The 23rd annual Earth Gathering festival at the Pump House Center for the Arts will be an all-day event of music, art, and food. Visitors are encouraged to view the Chillicothe Art League's Spring Open Exhibition featuring over 90 pieces of art from local and regional artists with a coordinating floral and plant arrangements designed by the Chillicothe Garden Club. MANGOS Authentic Taco Truck from Waverly will serve healthy chicken, beef or veggie street tacos, quesadillas, sandwich wraps, salads, and fruit smoothies. Coffee and tea products (hot and cold) and various desserts will be available from Two Roasting Joes/Livy Cakes.

Looking ahead…LoriG Comedy and The Pour House at Machinery Hall are teaming up once again to bring you The Newlywed (and the not so newlywed) Game on May 6th at 8 pm. Make a reservation ASAP to secure your seat for this fun night.

On Wednesday, Aug. 9 LoriG Comedy and the Ross County Fair present Comedy Night with Donnie Baker and Jay Snyder. Hosted by me. Tickets are $15/20 and are available by visiting rosscountyfair.com. Showtime is 8 p.m. and gates open at 7 p.m. This is an 18 and up event.
