Matters of Graves Importance: Before the fireworks, check out these events

Fourth of July 4 festivities have been announced by the City of Chillicothe. From the city’s Facebook wall…”Fireworks Pool Party will be held on Tuesday, July 4 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Donald M. Smith Memorial Pool in Yoctangee Park. Individuals may purchase tickets through the Parks and Recreation Department on the first floor of the City Administrative Building located at 35 South Paint Street, Chillicothe. Tickets are $10 per person (cash or check), children ages 2 and under enter for free. Swimming, food, and refreshments are included with entry. Please call the Parks and Recreation Department at 740-772-5626 with any questions.” The city will also offer trolley rides from 2 to 8 p.m. before the 9:45 p.m. fireworks display.

Thursday stop by Dickey's Barbecue Pit for Name That Tune at 6 p.m. and karaoke after at 8 p.m. with DJ Roush.

On Friday, from 7 to 10 p.m., head downtown to Old Capitol Brewing for Blues, Brews, and BBQ. Local blues band Soul Secrets will take over the taproom at 7 p.m. Alex Williams begins his set at Steiner's Speakeasy at 8 p.m. and Mulgee Run kicks off the music at the Cozy Inn Bar & Grill at 10 p.m. At 9 p.m. you will find Camp Culture at Steiner’s.

Kentucky native Luke Trimble will be at Steiner's Speakeasy on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Looking ahead…Join LoriG Comedy for an evening of hilarious stand-up comedy at First Capital Enterprises with Shelterhouse Laughs on July 8. Comics include Brian Harris, Misty Vacariello, Mark Perkins, and (me) headliner Lori Graves. Up In Smoke food truck will be on site starting at 7 p.m. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tables for six are $50 and single tickets are $12. Tickets are on sale on Eventbrite and can be located by searching Shelterhouse Laughs.

LoriG Comedy returns to Terrace 27 at The Pour House at Machinery Hall on Saturday, July 15. Join me as I feature for Lindsay Glazer (Las Vegas) on the rooftop stage. Performing guest spots will be Torre Elliott, Greg Routt, and McKenzie Reutinger. July 22 celebrate the completion of the HVAC for the Majestic Theatre in their now air-conditioned building with a great night of music from McGuffey Lane. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at majesticchillicothe.net/events.
