Matters of Graves Importance: Name that Tune, brass band, celebrity basketball and more

Heck yes it is snowing in March. Did you honestly think we would get those seventy degree days in January without consequences? March is now the new February. Look, it's like this. Your big toe saw its shadow. Put the flip flops away for six more weeks because it isn’t time. If you have time this weekend you should get out in Chillicothe and check out these events.

Tonight you can find Name That Tune at Dickey's Barbecue at 6 p.m. For music head to Steiner’s Speakeasy where you will find Karly Driftwood and Jeff Shepard at 7 p.m. The Crosskeys Tavern hosts Nick and Nat also at 7 p.m.

Celebrate DD Month with the Pioneer Center at Elks Lodge #52 on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Live music provided by Felony4 with appearances by emcee Lori Graves (me). This event is open to the public and admission is free. Concessions are also free while supplies last. Ben True will be at Old Capitol Brewing at 7 p.m. and THICC BOIS start the fun at The Crosskeys at 8 p.m. Nevada Hart and Jimmy B will be playing 8 to 11 p.m. at Jerry's Pizza West.

On Saturday, Wagner’s Roadhouse is the place to catch Puma live on stage from 8 to 11 p.m. Mother Hubbard starts at The Pour House at Machinery Hall at 7:30 p.m. and Nicole Boggs and the Reel take the stage at Steiner’s at 8 p.m. The ‘Keys rounds out their music weekend with Moldy Money.

The Majestic Theatre Chillicothe presents Brass Metropolis (Chicago tribute band) “is an 8 piece band that has all the excitement, artistry and virtuosity of early Chicago Transit Authority, with a song list that ranges from “Introduction” to “You’re the Inspiration.” The band gives a performance that brings together all of the diverse elements that made Chicago extraordinary: the vocal contrast and interplay between Terry Kath and Peter Cetera, intricate harmony arrangements, a phenomenal horn section, and a virtuosic rhythm section. If you wish you could have seen Chicago in the 70s, you need to see Brass Metropolis.” Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and showtime is 7:30 p.m.

The Ross County Trailblazers will take on local celebrities at Chillicothe High School on Wednesday, March 29. Concessions will be sold and admission is donation based. All proceeds from admission will benefit the Ross County Special Olympics program. Doors open at 6 p.m. Featured celebrities include Mayor Luke Feeney, Michael Throne, Steve Clever, Garin Veris, Robyn Leeth Brewster, Josh Claytor, Pat Beard, Brenton Davidson, David Jeffers, Aubrey Herrnstein, Rick Marriott, Erin Givens, Michael Benson, Nikki Bolte, Allison Basye and Aaron Knotts. Dan Ramey will announce the evening and celebrity referees will include James "Oody" Lowe and Kevin Smith. Join Old Capitol Brewing for their first music open mic night. Play some tunes as local musician Danny Hines hosts and keeps the jams going. Bring your instruments. The mic kicks off at 6:30 p.m.
