Matters of Graves Importance: Rock-N-Roll Elvis is bringing the hits to Chillicothe

Congratulations to the four winners of the 2022 Chillicothe Holiday Lights competition! Thank you Mayor Feeney for allowing me to work with the parks and recreation department to make changes to our local holiday light competition this year.

Check out 747 Jefferson Ave. (Stanley Kennedy), 757 E. Water St. (Heath Lawson), 144 Sharon Drive (Jack and Cassady Martin), and 330 Piatt Ave. (Cathy and John Zangri). To vote for the grand prize winner visit the City of Chillicothe, Ohio Facebook page and like your favorite. Shout out to my light judging teams of Brady and Megan Freeman, Harvey Wood, Jameson Hesseling, Sharon Graves, Mary and Brian Putnam, Christina Martin, and Campbell for covering the miles and hours to judge the entries.

The competition was tough this year and they had their work cut out for them. Something else tough is deciding which one of these fantastic events you will attend in our area this weekend.

Tonight head to Old Capitol Brewing as local author Rick Barnes holds a book signing for his recently published novel "Sailing Home." Local musician Mark Thacker will be playing during the event and Maria Cunningham from The Market at Schlegel's will be providing some light refreshments. The event will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Old Capitol Brewing is back at it on Friday with Cory Breth and his new duo Fox & Honey at 8 p.m. Karaoke can be found at the Dock at Water with Cameron Mitchell or at Wagner’s Roadhouse with DJ Roush.

On Saturday KAVAN, The World’s #1 Rock-n-Roll Elvis, presents “4 Shades of Elvis” at the Majestic Theatre Chillicothe. The show will cover Elvis’ hit songs from the ’50s, the movie years, the ’68 comeback special, and will close with “Aloha from Hawaii.” Backing KAVAN will be the Memphis Flash Band, a 3-piece horn section, with special guest vocalist Sara Reat. Few tickets remain and they can be purchased on the theatre website or in person at the Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau on North Plaza Blvd. Chris Logsdon will be live at the Pour House at Machinery Hall from 8 to 11 p.m. and Weightless will appear at the Crosskeys Tavern at 9 p.m.

Tickets for “Super Fantastical Christmas Spectacular” with Cameron Mitchell at the CCT are on sale now on Eventbrite. Join him on December 17 for a holiday variety show that only Cam can offer. More live tunes can be found at Steiner’s Speakeasy with Acoustic Rehab.

Ohio Creations cordially invites you to attend the second Ohio premiere of How I Got Here in Chillicothe at the Majestic Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 18. An afternoon matinée and an evening show will be offered at noon and 6 p.m. A brief Q & A with some of the cast and crew of the movie will follow each screening. Tickets are available on Eventbrite and VIP packages can be purchased.

Until next time. I hope to see you out and laughing.
