Matters of Graves Importance: United Way Comedy Night takes place on Saturday
Chillicothe is starting out 2023 with a great lineup of entertainment events for our area to enjoy. There are plenty of opportunities for you to laugh or dance that after holiday slump away. Check out what is happening this weekend!
Tonight Brian Douglas Day and JT Hillier are the Thursday music band at Steiner's Speakeasy. The fun begins at 7 p.m. Name That Tune at Dickey's Barbecue begins at 6:30 p.m. There will be four rounds of music and a $20 gift card for first place.
Friday the 13th isn't scary when you have good entertainment to keep you company. Old Capitol Brewing starts out the evening at 7 p.m. with Zac McFadden and at 8 p.m. Knoxville musician Matt Woods takes the Steiner’s Speakeasy stage.
This year’s United Way of Ross County comedy night is happening at Creekside Occasions on Saturday with me and Lexington comic Joe Deuce. Joe was crowned Funniest Comedian in Lexington by Comedy Off Broadway (Lexington, KY) and was a winner of Dayton's Got Talent at the Dayton Funny Bone. He's been showcased at the Black Box Comedy Festival and at "Rock on the Range" as a part of the Rolling Rock Comedy Tent. Joe has been seen on "Laughs" on Fox and "Trial By Laughter" on Comcast. Tables are sold out and few single tickets remain. Call 740-773-3280 to purchase your tickets. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. Cash bar available.
Mulgee Run will be handing out the tunes at the Crosskeys Tavern at 8 p.m. and Moonlite Mile from Sandy Hook, Kentucky will be down the block at Steiner’s. Fifty West Brewing Company brings back the 70’s with a costume encouraged dance party at 7 p.m. Come dressed in your best 70's threads and get $2 off of your first drink. Adena Mansion & Garden Society welcomes local brewer Seth Blewitt of Old Capitol Brewing for a lecture event about the process of brewing as well as the history of breweries in the Chillicothe area. Naz Vineyard and Winery presents Los Angeles based singer songwriter Ben Eaton who will be performing live acoustic originals, standards and covers from 7 to 10 p.m.
Looking ahead…Friday, Jan. 20 comedy with me and Jesse Nutt is happening at Mikey's Sports Bar on Eastern Avenue. The laughs begin at 9 p.m.
The Paul Francis Quartet will perform on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Majestic Theatre Chillicothe. Tickets are available on the theatre website. Grammy Award winning drummer, educator, and Chillicothe native Francis is featured on the Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett album “Cheek to Cheek.” Paul has recorded and/or performed with Stevie Wonder, Jose Feliciano, Jim Belushi, Molly Ringwald, Megan Hilty, The Rockettes, Ralph Lalama, Brian Newman, Rich Little, The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and The Albany Symphony Orchestra. He has also appeared on shows for HBO, ABC, NBC, Netflix and MTV as well as “A Star is Born” featuring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.
