Matthew McConaughey to star in 'Yellowstone' spinoff, ViacomCBS president confirms

Alright, alright, alright, "Yellowstone" fans. It looks like the rumors were true: Matthew McConaughey will indeed star in a spinoff of the hit Paramount show.

Chris McCarthy, president of ViacomCBS, confirmed the Austin-based actor's involvement in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. The news comes on the heels of recent rumors that "Yellowstone" may lose its star, Kevin Costner.

McCarthy had nothing to tell the Hollywood Reporter about the possible Costner situation other than that the show “wouldn’t be what it is today without Kevin, and we hope that that stays for a long time to come."

The ViacomCBS president also stayed tight-lipped about details on McConaughey's spinoff.

The "Yellowstone" universe currently consists of five "Yellowstone" seasons and spinoffs "1883," "1923" and upcoming "6666."

McConaughey also voices Elvis Presley in the new Netflix animated series "Agent Elvis," which is a violent and profanity-peppered story about the King of Rock & Roll as a secret agent.
