Lone Star state native Matthew McConaughey wants to make Texas alright, alright, alright again.

The 51-year-old Academy Award winner from Uvalde, Texas, announced on Twitter that he was focusing his efforts on helping Texans affected by deadly winter storms, asked others for help and promised an upcoming online event to aid relief efforts.

“Howdy world, howdy America, howdy Texas — yea-ess!” McConaughey begins a video presentation announcing he and his wife Camila, through their Just Keep Livin’ Foundation, are organizing a virtual fund-raiser to get his native state back on track.

McConaughey talks about the brutal winter storm that walloped Texas and said it’s his goal to coordinate resources that will help Texans “get back to living.”

He also urges Texans to check on their neighbors, saying “If you’re a have, please help out a have-not, there’s are a bunch of them.”

While McConaughey doesn’t offer details about that benefit, he urged fans to stay tuned to his social media pages for updates.

The Texas Tribune reports that dozens of people have been killed as a result of harsh weather in recent days, but says an exact number isn’t yet known.
