Mavis Tire to open on Birney Avenue

Aug. 26—Mavis Discount Tire plans to open a new location at the site of the former Ponderosa Restaurant, 3356 Birney Ave., Moosic Borough Administrator Jane Sterling said.

The restaurant was demolished last year.

Although Sterling is unsure when the new business will open, she is pleased with the progress.

"I'm sure they're having supply issues as everybody does at this time, but they're moving right along," she said.

She is also excited to see another business set up shop in the borough.

"It's a good addition," Sterling said. "They're going to be employing people who live in the area."
