‘Mavka: The Forest Song’, Ukraine's blockbuster animated film, set to premiere on Netflix

Ukraine’s most successful animated film, ‘Mavka:The Forest Song’, is set to be released on Netflix, announced one of the animation directors, Oleg Malamuzh, on Facebook on Nov. 17.

The animated film will be available to watch on Netflix from Dec. 1.

Based on the drama-fairy tale 'The Forest Song' by Lesya Ukrainka, the film was released in Ukrainian cinemas in March 2023, becoming the highest-grossing Ukrainian film and the top-grossing animated film since Ukraine's independence.

'Mavka' has achieved substantial success internationally, being released in 148 countries and dubbed into 32 languages.

Directed by Oleksandra Ruban and Oleg Malamuzh, the seven-year project immerses the viewer in the magical world of Ukrainian folk mythology, telling the story of the confrontation between nature and humans. The film features voices of Natalka Denisenko, Artem Pivovarov, Serhiy Prytula, Mykhailo Khoma, and others.
