Max Fried, a key starting pitcher for the Atlanta Braves will be out for at least two months, the team announced on Monday.

Fried has been sidelined with a forearm injury since his May 5 start against the Baltimore Orioles.

On Monday the team moved Fried to the 60-day injured list.

The 29-year-old Fried has been arguably the Braves’ best pitcher since 2019, so his being sidelined until at least early August is a major blow.

The team is also without fellow starting pitcher Kyle Wright, who is dealing with a shoulder injury.

The Braves also announced that fellow starter Mike Soroka has been sent back down to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Soroka had been sidelined with multiple surgeries for nearly three seasons before he returned to the field in a start against the Oakland Athletics.

In his second start of the season on Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Soroka did struggle, giving up five runs in just 3.2 innings.
