Max George shocks girlfriend Maisie Smith by ‘proposing’ on The Chase Celebrity Special

Former EastEnders star Maisie Smith became very excited when her boyfriend Max George appeared to propose while they were taking part in The Chase Celebrity Special at the weekend.

The Wanted singer, 34, and Smith, 21, have been an item since last Autumn after striking up a relationship while taking part in the Strictly Come Dancing Live Show.

While taking part in a celebrity edition of popular ITV quiz show The Chase, host Bradley Walsh asked how they knew each other and seemed genuinely unaware that they were boyfriend and girlfriend.

“OK, how do you know each other?” Walsh asked, adding: “Have you been out together?”, to which the audience roared with laughter.

“It’s sort of going on at the minute,” George sheepishly replied.

The audience then applauded when a stunned Walsh admitted: “I didn’t know, I’m so sorry!”

Attempting to alleviate any awkwardness, he then quipped: “So erm, when’s the big day?”

Playing along, George turned to Smith and said: “Funny you mention it, er...” as he pretended to reach for a ring in his pocket.

The Tiffany Butcher actress quickly jumped out of her seat and pretended to be flustered, with Walsh left unsure whether the propsal was for real or not.
