Singer-songwriter-producer Maxwell will perform at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6, with Musiq Soulchild and Leela James opening, according to Red Mountain Entertainment, the venue's Birmingham-based booking agent.

Neo-soul singer Gerald Maxwell Rivera, who performs as Maxwell, has cut five hit studio discs since 1996, beginning with "Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite," which went double platinum, as did 1998's "Embrya" and 2001's "Now." His tour this year is called "Night: The Trilogy," after the albums "BLACKsummers'night" (2009) and "blackSUMMERS'night" (2016), with the third, "blacksummersNIGHT," originally planned for 2022 release, due out this year.

His gold and platinum hits include “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder),” "Lake By the Ocean," "Sumthin' Sumthin'," "Fortunate," "Lifetime," "Pretty Wings," "This Woman's Work," "Bad Habits," "Fistful of Tears" and "OFF." He's won three Grammys, and was bestowed a Legend Award at the 2021 Soul Train Awards.

Musiq Soulchild is the stage name of Taalib Hassan Johnson, a singer-songwriter blending soul, R&B, hip-hop, funk, blues and jazz, cutting gold and platinum albums dating back to 2000's "Aijuswanaseing." His hits include "Love," "Halfcrazy," "Dontchange," "Teach Me," "B.U.D.D.Y.," and "IfULeave," featuring Mary J. Blige.

Leela James is the performance name of soul/R&B singer-songwriter Alechia Janeice Campbell, whose hits include "Don't Want You Back," "Set Me Free," "Complicated," and "Say That," featuring Anthony Hamilton.
