May the 4th be with you! Where and how to celebrate Star Wars day in Fort Worth
This Thursday marks a special day for those who celebrate all things Star Wars.
May 4 or “May the 4th Be With You,” is synonymous among Star Wars fans as a day of celebration for the galaxy far, far away. The name comes from the iconic line first spoken by General Dodonna, “May the force be with you,” in 1977’s “Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope”.
There’s not a clear indicator of when or how the May date got its fantastical name. Some reports state that the phrase started out as a reference to the Fourth of July, while other say a sound engineer coined the title while on set of “Star Wars: Episode VI- Return of the Jedi”.
No matter who created the phrase, its become ingrained in pop-culture as the day to celebrate all things Star Wars. There’s plenty of things to do and see around Fort Worth to honor the force-sensitive holiday:
May the Fourth and five year anniversary party at Holocron Toy Store
Holocron Toy Store is dedicated to all things Star Wars from clothes and toys, to collectibles and movie merchandise.
The store is celebrating its five year anniversary on Thursday with barbecue and desert food trucks, along with discounts on certain items. Actress Amy Allen, who portrays Aayla Secura in “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith,” will be at the store from 3 to 8 p.m. for photos and autographs.
Members of the Star Wars fan organization, the 501st Legion, will also be on hand and in costume for photos.

Downtown Cowtown hosting all-day Star Wars event
Downtown Cowtown at The Isis Theater is making the most out Star Wars day.
The theater is hosting an all-day celebration with movie screenings, merchandise, trivia and specialty themed cocktails. Mystery movie screenings will be at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Pizza deals on Star Wars day at Fort Worth eateries
Cane Rosso and its sister restaurant — Zoli’s Pizza — are making sure Star Wars fans are well fed Thursday.
Both pizza restaurants are serving $10 Roni One pizzas, which are topped with double pepperoni and bacon marmalade, to any “scruffy looking nerf herders” who fly by. If you come dressed in Star Wars costumes or shirts, both eateries will take 10% off your bill.
When: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at both spots Thursday

Rooftop Cinema Club screening Star Wars movies downtown
Rooftop Cinema Club’s outdoor downtown theater is screening two classic Star Wars movies.
First up at 7:15 p.m. is 1977’s “Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope”, followed by 1980’s “Star Wars: Episode IV- The Empire Strikes Back” at 10 p.m. Both movies launched the franchise that is still celebrated by fans over 40 years later.
When: 7:15 and 10 p.m. Thursday

Cost: $19.50 a ticket
Star Wars celebration and trivia at Twilite Lounge
Star Wars fans can put their Star Wars knowledge to the test with trivia at Twilite Lounge.
There will be 10 rounds of five questions each at trivia from 6 to 8 p.m. First place wins a $50 bar gift card and bragging rights, while second place will take home a $25 gift card. Star Wars movies will be playing in the background during the entire night.
A costume contest is also planned with first place winning $100 cash and second receiving a $50 bar gift card. Nick & Rowdy’s Cantina Band will then finish the night performing from 9 p.m. to midnight.
