In the wake of its breakout first episode, which set a record as the Starz app's most viewed series premiere (yes, even overtaking Outlander), the premium cable network quickly renewed P-Valley for season 2 in summer 2020 after just three episodes.

Based on a play penned by showrunner and Pulitzer Prize winner Katori Hall, P-Valley takes us to the fictional Mississippi Delta small town of Chucalissa. It's there we become privy to all of the enticing drama surrounding the people of the Pynk, a strip club run by the savvy, brazen, struggling business-owner Uncle Clifford. Each episode of the sexy series was directed by a woman and the stories are based on Hall's personal experiences.

"I actually grew up going to strip clubs, so it was just a part of Southern culture, Southern Black culture. It was something that we didn’t necessarily look at in a shameful way," she told The Playlist. "Oftentimes this world is misunderstood. These women are misrepresented, they’re not respected. And I really wanted to put some respect on their name because I knew that what they were doing is art. It’s nothing to be ashamed of."

Ahead, everything we know about the highly anticipated season 2.

We know the P-Valley season 2 release date...kind of.

Thanks to an August behind-the-scenes promo video released through the show's social media accounts, we've gleaned that season 2 is guaranteed to premiere in 2022. However, we still don't have an official release date. But we do know via an exclusive from the Hollywood Reporter, that season 2 will have 10 episodes instead of eight.

So, since the first season premiered in summer 2020, why do we have to wait more than a year for Uncle Clifford and Mercedez to grace our screens once again? Both Hall and Elarica Johnson (Autumn Night) said the pandemic significantly delayed production, with Hall telling Indie Wire that it would take two years to see the second season come together. And according to an interview she did in June with The Playlist, the series was just about to begin production in June.

So is there even a trailer?

No trailer, yet. To hold you over, here's a video of the cast filling us in on what's to come from the season 2 set.

Speaking of the cast, are they all coming back for the second season?

We are happy to report that the entire main cast appears to be returning to The Pynk for season 2. If you want to keep up with them once filming is underway, we've linked their Instagram accounts below.

Are there any season 2 spoilers?

If we keep season 1's finale in mind, we're guessing we'll see a few storylines based around Autumn Night being the new owner of The Pynk after she won the club in an auction—saving it from its fate of being bought by casino developers. This also means she's technically Uncle Clifford's boss, which will probably not be an easy collaboration.

"The power dynamics at the club have completely changed and to see Uncle Clifford and Hailey fight over the throne will be stuff of legends," Hall told Entertainment Weekly.

Mississippi and Lil Murda's faux romance and musical talents are likely to set them on the fast track to a future beyond Chucalissa (and Instagram). But Mississippi's abusive relationship and Lil Murda's reluctance to come out and publicly date Uncle Clifford are likely to hold them back. And then there's our beloved Mercedes, who after being robbed by her own mother, may be able to afford her dance studio once again because of Autumn's generosity.

"The Mercedes that we’ve grown to know and love in season one, we root for her even more in season two," Hall said in an interview. "Even when she gets broken down, there’s always this attempt to rise again, and I think that’s the thing that we’re going to continue seeing in Mercedes and continue being inspired by."

Lastly, we cannot forget the biggest question mark that came out of the first season finale: What happened in the Paradise Room? Did Uncle Clifford and Mercedes help Autumn kill her gangster ex? Or is he still alive? This is the biggest cliffhanger that must be answered in P-Valley season 2.
