Maya Jama quits Glow Up as new host is announced

Maya Jama has quit Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-Up Star, with the BBC announcing model Leomie Anderson as the new host.

TV presenter Jama has recently taken over the high-profile role of host of ITV2's Love Island, which fans had been speculating would spell an end to her fronting the BBC Three make-up artist contest.

Now, the news has been confirmed with an announcement that model, influencer and designer Anderson will take over the new series.

BBC Three controller Fiona Campbell paid tribute to outgoing host Jama, saying: "I am thrilled that Leomie Anderson will be taking the reins as the new host of Glow Up. With her flair for modelling and fashion, I can’t wait to see her expertise in action!

"I also would like to thank our previous host the magnificent Maya Jama, we will miss her of course but she will always be a part of the Glow Up family."

Jama had served two years on the series, taking over as host in 2021 from previous presenter Stacey Dooley.

Val Garland and Dominic Skinner will return as judges for season five of the competition.

Anderson said: "I am so excited to be joining Glow Up as the host as it’s such an incredible show! I have always been a huge fan and admire all the MUAs work who have been in there previously so to see it in real life is amazing!

"I can’t wait to work alongside the fabulous Val and Dom in a completely new territory too outside of modelling and get truly stuck in!"

This year's Glow Up challenges will include working on make-up for the hit Netflix series Bridgerton, creating prosthetics for BBC comedy Ghosts, and working on a huge beauty campaign.

Jama recently began work on Love Island hosting the current series from South Africa, the dating show's second winter version, and will also be back to host the main series this summer.

Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-Up Star is due to return to BBC Three later this year.
