DUNDEE – The 22nd annual Mayfly Music Festival will take place June 16-17 at Wolverine Park in downtown Dundee.

Among the new attractions are a 40-foot Ferris wheel and a children’s contest.

“New is a 'Name the Guitar Bug' contest for children up to age 12,” organizers the Dundee Area Business Association said. “We will have a large sign at the Mayfly Festival with the bug’s picture and a jar nearby to put your suggested name in. So start thinking of a good name now.”

The child with the winning name will receive a prize.

The annual festival draws about 4,000 people each year, organizers said. Admission is $5 a day; a 3% fee is added for debit and credit cards. Children age 12 and younger will be admitted free.

The schedule:

Friday

The festival will run from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday.

Fools Fait will perform at 7 p.m. That Arena Rock Show will perform at 9 p.m.

Fireworks will begin at dusk Friday. Meijer is the sponsor of the fireworks.

Also offered Friday will be food booths, a beer tent, children’s games and children’s crafts.

Saturday

Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday.

Step Aside Band will perform from 6 to 7 p.m. Flyte will perform at 7 p.m. The Eliminator Band, a ZZ Top tribute band, will perform at 9 p.m.

Also offered Saturday will be vendors, crafts, food booths, a beer tent, games and children’s crafts.

Children’s activities on Saturday include:

• 11 a.m.-dusk: Inflatables, crafts, games, petting zoo and face painting

• 11 a.m.-1 p.m.: School of Rock, Ann Arbor, concert

• Noon-4 p.m.: Twist and Shout the Clown Bolloonatic

• 1-1:30 p.m.: Elsa and Anna stage show by Laurel’s Princess Parties

• 1:30-3 p.m.: Meet-and-greet with Elsa and Anna

• 3 p.m.: Dundee’s Korean Academy of Tae Kwon Do demonstration

• 4-4:30 p.m.: Mirabel and Bruno’s stage show by Laurel’s Princess Parties

• 4:30-6 p.m.: Meet-and-greet with Mirabel and Bruno

No coolers, pets or backpacks will be permitted. Lawn chair are allowed. Parking will be available on the street and in the village parking lots.
