Mayim Bialik Shows Off Dramatic Transformation on TikTok and 'Big Bang Theory' Fans Are Shocked

Amy Farrah Fowler on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory may not have been a huge fan of Star Trek. But Mayim Bialik, the real-life actress behind Amy, certainly is, and her costume transformation in honor of the sci-fi franchise would send Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) over the moon.
A few years ago, the 45-year-old star dressed up as some of Star Trek's most iconic characters, including Spock (Leonard Nimoy), Captain Kirk (William Shatner), Data (Brent Spiner) and Janice Rand (Grace Lee Whitney). The photoshoot was for CBS’ Watch! Magazine's August 2016 issue, which celebrated the beloved franchise’s 50th anniversary.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight promoting her cover, Mayim opened up about growing up watching Star Trek and called out a particular moment in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan that deeply disturbed her — the famous scene where Khan (Ricardo Montalban) drops slug-like creatures into the ears of Pavel Chekov (Walter Koenig) and Captain Terrell (Paul Winfield).
“I went to see The Wrath of Khan when I was a very young child,” she told the outlet. “The scene where they put that thing in his ear scared me so much that my brother and I had to go to a pay phone in the lobby of the movie theater and call [our] parents to come and pick me up.”
When Mayim shared an old clip of her interview and her Data costume for Halloween, she captioned her post, “Still haunts me to this day 😬.”
Despite Mayim bringing up the terrifying movie moment, fans couldn't help but admire her spot-on look. “Great costume. I didn’t even recognize you. I had to look and see whose TikTok this was 😁,” someone said. "Wow, good makeup," another wrote. "Sheldon's favorite star trek character," another joked.
As it turns out, Mayim isn’t the only one still freaked out by this particular Star Trek scene. “I will never ever ever be able to erase the memory [because] it is SEARED in my mind forevermore!” one person wrote. “I remember seeing this scene on TV when I was young and I was terrified for months that things were going to crawl into my ear while I slept 😬,” another added.
A creepy movie scene, indeed. But even still, we fully believe Sheldon would give Amy — er, Mayim — a heartfelt thumbs up for this Data transformation.
