Mayo Clinic prepares to double its two-day red kettle match

Dec. 15—ROCHESTER — Mayo Clinic is set to double its annual match as part of the Salvation Army's red kettle campaign.

Rebecca Snapp, the Salvation Army's director of community engagement, said Mayo Clinic has agreed to match all Dec. 23 and Dec. 24 donations, up to $100,000. It includes money dropped in kettles throughout Olmsted County, as well as donations made online.

Last year,

the clinic donated $50,000, helping the Salvation Army raise $144,000 after residents donated $94,000 in two days.

Mayo Clinic's matching gifts began in 2017, and all donations to the kettles stay local to provide health care, housing, food, youth programs and other essential services in the community.

The Rochester Salvation Army serves more than 10,000 people each year through its local center of operation. Annually, it serves 20,000 hot meals and provides 3,000 individuals with medical and dental care, in addition to housing and rental assistance, along with a variety of other support services.

As giving continues at the Salvation Army's kettles, the organization continues to have room for more bell ringers. Potential volunteers can sign up by visiting registertoring.com.
