New mayor and city councilor to take oaths of office during the Willmar City Council meeting Monday, Jan. 9

Willmar City Council

will meet Monday, Jan. 9, for its annual reorganization meeting, at which new mayor, Doug Reese and new city councilor, Carl Shuldes will take their oaths of office.

Re-elected councilors Vicki Davis, Rick Fagerlie and Audrey Nelsen will also be sworn in for their new terms of office at the meeting.

Other items for council action at the reorganizational meeting include electing a mayor pro tempore, adopting the rules of order, assigning committees and liaisons, establishing meeting dates and times, designating an official newspaper, designating the proper authority for data practices and appointing the official depositories and authorizing electronic fund transfers.

The City Council will also conduct a public hearing regarding the project status of the Small Cities Development Program, for which the city received a grant in 2019 to implement a streetscape project and rehabilitate multi-family housing.
