Mayor: New company proceeding with plans to build in Newcomerstown

NEWCOMERSTOWN ‒ A new company, Plymouth Foam, is proceeding with plans to build at the end of Enterprise Drive in the Newcomerstown Industrial Park off County Road 9, according to Mayor Pat Cadle.

The mayor, during a meeting last month, said architects representing Plymouth Foam had asked the village for information about building codes and permits, which indicates they are moving forward with their plans.

Plymouth Foam has a facility in Gnadenhutten. On its website, the company says it offers 3-D solid modeling, rapid prototyping, shape molding and fabrication services.

Cadle said proposed developments will result in the need for improvements along Enterprise Drive.

He said he and Street Superintendent Travis Goodwill have been discussing plans. The road is due for paving in 2024 but Cadle said the village may need to wait until most of the construction is complete before making repairs.

He also said the village will need to start planning for a drainage culvert to the Tuscarawas River before paving. “The construction for Plymouth Foam, H3D Diamond and possibly Paragon will have a big effect on the drainage if we don’t.”

In other action last month, council accepted the resignation of Justin Green from the water department and of Don Walkup from the Board of Public Affairs; then hired Walkup as an operator in the water department (the position had been posted internally since Sept. 5). Former mayor Jim Friel was appointed to the open BPA post. The water department is also requesting a handicapped accessible door at the main entrance.

Interviews are being set up for the police chief's position that will become open when Gary Holland retires in January.
